Recent Activity Block The Recent Activity block can be quite useful if more than one user has teacher rights in the course. It lists the recent activity in the course since your last visit. Recent Activity is only visible to those with Teacher or Non-Editing Teacher rights.
Random Glossary Entry Block The Random Glossary Entry does just about what you'd think: It displays glossary entries, much like a "word of the day" exercise. But be careful using this one if your glossary contains graphics, as the graphics will display full size.
