Frequently Asked Questions
What web browsers does PRISM currently support?
PRISM currently supports Internet Explorer 8 and Firefox 3.6.6.
Netscape (all versions) and Internet Explorer 6 are not supported. Due to their age, we recommend updating to a modern browser.
Who provides the reviews of resources to PRISM?
Because PRISM is dedicated to supporting the middle school-level STEM educators community, the reviews offered on this website are done by teachers, for teachers. All materials have been reviewed by a middle school science or math teacher.
Do I have to log-in if I just want to look at materials?
No. You do not have to log-in as a member of PRISM to look at the materials. If you are a member, you can access the course management features provided by Moodle.
Why should I register as a member?
Members may submit comments to existing reviews. Membership is free, and it is quick and easy to log-in. PRISM is also tightly integrated with the Moodle course management system that allows members to create their own courses.
There are many resources that make lesson plans and activities available to teachers. What's unique about PRISM?
All of the resources in the PRISM database are free to use and available online. Also, the resources' links are organized according to the Indiana Academic Standards, making PRISM especially useful to teachers looking for materials that follow the guidelines of a particular standard. Additionally, you may search for materials by particular concepts, for example, adding fractions or the solar system.
Will I receive any spam if I become a PRISM member?
No. PRISM does not share your email address with any third party.
What is unique about PRISM's Moodle implementation?
The PRISM Team has developed an exclusive Moodle feature that allows our teachers to add hidden student member accounts to their courses. These accounts are hidden to general PRISM users. This feature was designed to be strictly compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998. PRISM is dedicated to protecting the online privacy of children.
