A Wiki activity is a collection of collaboratively authored web documents. Basically, a wiki page is a web page everyone in your class can create together, right in the browser, without needing to know HTML. A wiki starts with one front page. Each author can add other pages to the wiki by simply creating a link to a page that doesn't exist yet.
To add a Wiki in your course:
- Turn Editing On in your course
- Pick a section in your course that you would like the Wiki to reside, then click the "+Add an activity or resource" link in any section of your course.
Select the 'Wiki' option. Now click the 'Add' button.
You will now see the Adding a Wiki page. Give the Wiki a Name, a Description and a First page name, then scroll down.
Scroll down and click 'Save and Display'
Now you will be able to create the first page in your Wiki:
For most applications, leave Format set to HTML format so you can use the Moodle HTML Editor.
Now, click the 'Create page' button. You will now see your Wiki with a HTML Editor section ready to add your content:
Once you have added the initial content to your page, click the 'Save' or 'Preview' button.
Now, you should see your Wiki:
Adding New Pages
To create a new page, look for the 'New' link in the Navigation block:
Clicking 'New' will allow you to make another wiki page. To link that page to your first page, go to your first page and click the 'Edit' tab.
You can also add a new Page from within your wiki.
To add a link to another page in your wiki, enclose the link in double brackets:
Now, once you save your wiki, you will see a link to page 2:
Clicking the Page 2 link will display the create-a-page interface so you can create the second page of the Wiki:
Now click the 'Create page' button and you can add your Page 2 content.
Once saved it will display:
Now, you can add more pages, or log-in as a test student account to explore how students can edit the Wiki.
